I Went Skydiving!!

I Went Skydiving!!

Recently, I bought a bucket list book and began filling it up with things I hope to achieve or complete before I die. One of those items on the list is to skydive, and so I decided to tick this off the list while in Cape Town. And I am so glad I did! It was absolutely wild, and an unforgettable experience.

I did the tandem jump which in my opinion is easier because you have a professional diver strapped to you that you jump with. All you have to do is remember the very few instructions he gives you and he handles the rest. There were two other girls on the plane with me that were friends. I went alone. We all flew up (I believe 6,000 feet) and the view was incredible. I could see the beautiful blue waters of the ocean below, the mountains, and view of the city. The whole way up, I tried to keep my breathing steady and told myself not to overthink it or panic. I was pretty calm until the first girl was about to jump. Her instructor opened the door of the plane and all three of our mouths dropped to the floor! When she tumbled out of the plane, my eyes got about 5x wider. But it was too late to turn back, so I said a silent prayer and took a deep breath as my instructor scooted me closer to the airplane door. He told me to swing my legs over the edge and I did. Then he pulled my head back and jumped.

The next thing I knew, I was tumbling in the air. It all happened so fast that I barely had time to freak out. I really don't remember much of the actual jumping out part because a few seconds later, the parachute was open and we were falling. The air was slapping my face and apparently, according to my instructor, I said "Oh my God!" a thousand times. Once we were floating, I just admired the amazing views. It was such a thrill being that high up in the air with only a parachute keeping you afloat. I sang "I'm like a Bird" by Nelly Furtado the whole way.

Skydiving is usually on the pricier side, but from what I've heard from other people. Cape town is one of the least expensive cities to do it in. Regardless of the cost (a little over $200) it was worth every single penny. Definitely something to add to your bucket list!
